If you’re looking for a way to stay on top of your goals and build better habits, you may be wondering how Focus Bear compares to Momentum Habit Tracker. Both apps are designed to help you track your progress and see where you need to focus your efforts, but there are some key differences that may make one a better fit for you than the other.

How they compare

Here’s a quick rundown of how Focus Bear and Momentum Habit Tracker differ:

Focus Bear is a productivity and habit activation app that doesn’t just track your habits, it guides you through each habit and shields you from distractions. In the morning, it blocks distracting apps and websites across all your devices so you can get through your morning routine. It also improves your productivity during the work day by blocking distracting websites.

Momentum Habit Tracker is a habit-tracking app that helps you build good habits and break bad ones. You can track your progress, set goals, and get reminders to stay on track.

Both apps are useful but they have different philosophies. Momentum Habit Tracker is great for people who have no problem completing their habits each day and just need a little nudge (push notifications) to do their habits. Focus Bear is for people who need a bit more assistance. It was designed by someone with ADHD and suits people who get easily distracted (e.g. instead of doing your meditation in the morning, you might find yourself scrolling through Instagram). By removing tech related distractions, Focus Bear makes it far more likely that you will complete your habits.

Breakdown of features

Habit Streak tracking

Momentum Habit Tracker (MHT) and Focus Bear (FB) both have ways to track your habit streaks. FB gives you graphs showing how many days in a row you’ve done your habits.

MHT has a nice UI showing your streak.

Reminders

Both apps allow you to set reminders for your habits, but FB goes a step further by taking over your computer and phone when it’s time to do your morning routine. This is helpful for people who might ignore a push notification.

Blocking distractions

MHT is solely focused on habit tracking and doesn’t have a way of blocking distractions. FB contextually blocks distracting websites. During your morning routine, all websites and apps are blocked unless it’s relevant to the habit you’re doing. For example, during your morning routine, you might want to follow along to a video workout from BeachBody.com. You can configure FB to allow access to BeachBody.com during that habit but block all other websites:

This distraction blocking feature is also useful during the workday. You can tell the app to automatically start pomodoro mode after you finish your morning routine — work related apps and websites will be allowed and everything else is blocked. This helps you maximise the amount of deep work you get done.

Try out the apps

If you’d like to take your habits and productivity up a notch, it’s worth trying both apps. Momentum Habit Tracker is excellent for people who already have strong habits in place and willpower to stop themselves going down tech related rabbit holes. If you find that you’re regularly getting off track during your morning routine, it’s worth giving Focus Bear a go. Download it from https://focusbear.io
